Teaching my boy how to be a man when society says masculinity is toxic

I want to raise my son right. Teach him to provide, to lead, to stand up for what's right and protect those who can't. But his school keeps telling him to get in touch with his feelings and his mom says I'm too strict. I'm not trying to raise some soft kid, but I'm also not going to make him feel bad for having emotions. How do you balance the old ways with not being a complete caveman in 2024? Looking for real advice from guys who know what raising good sons is about.

Four boys here and I see exactly what you mean. Being a man means integrity, hard work, and standing up for what matters. That'll never go out of style no matter what anyone says.

I've got two boys and I'm with you. There's a big difference between teaching them to be honorable men and the caricature some people push. Keep modeling what you believe is right.

Teaching your son to be strong, respectful, and protective isn't toxic at all. That's just good parenting. Show him those values through your own actions and he'll get it, school messaging or not.
