Teaching My Boys to Be Men of Their Word
Been thinking a lot about this lately. My old man never broke a promise to me, and I mean never. If he said he'd be there, he was there. If he said something, you could take it to the bank. I'm trying to instill that same code in my boys but man, it's hard in this day and age when everyone's just making excuses left and right. Last week my youngest backed out of helping me fix the fence because his buddy wanted to play video games. I sat him down and told him that a man's word is his bond. You say you're going to do something, you do it. Period. Anyone else struggling with this?
Hard agree. I see so many dads who say they'll do something and then just ghost on it. Your word is literally all you have sometimes. Teaching your boys early that promises matter is one of the best things you can do.
