Teaching my boys what it means to be a man

Took my two sons fishing and a conversation came up about how to treat people. Tried to explain that being a man isn't about being tough or intimidating, it's about your word meaning something and standing up for what's right even when it costs you. My oldest seemed to understand but my youngest just wanted to catch more fish. Still trying to figure out how to get these lessons to stick.
