Teaching my son to be a gentleman in today's world

I'm trying to raise my boy the right way - saying yes sir and no ma'am, opening doors for people, being respectful to his elders. Sometimes I feel like I'm fighting an uphill battle with everything else he's exposed to. Other dads out there still trying to instill these values? How do you keep it consistent?

The yes sir and no ma'am thing is hitting different these days. My son naturally picked it up and honestly it seems to make adults respect him more. Plus he's learning that respect isn't weakness.

Being a gentleman isn't about old rules, it's about thinking of others first. That's the core you're teaching and honestly the world could use more of it right now.

Door opening is such a simple thing but it teaches so much. My kid does it automatically now and people always comment on it. Small habits early on become character later.

This is important stuff. I'm teaching my daughter too - not because of gender roles but because manners and respect are just good. The world needs more of both.
