Trying to raise my boy right with old-school values in a world that doesn't seem to want them anymore. Manners, hard work, honor, taking responsibility for your word. But sometimes I feel like I'm fighting against the current with schools and culture telling him different things. Anyone else trying to keep these principles alive with their kids? How do you balance tradition with the times?
Old-school values aren't dead but the delivery matters. Teaching respect, work ethic, and honesty is timeless. Just make sure it's about who he is as a person, not rigid roles. That resonates more with kids these days anyway.
Teaching the old values is hard when YouTube and TikTok are teaching the opposite 24/7. I'm trying the same thing with my three and some days it feels like I'm losing ground.

I respect that man. My oldest is starting to notice how I handle things, and I'm realizing those old values like showing up and doing what you say you're going to do still matter big time in 2024. Kids need that anchor.
