My boy is 8 and I'm trying to instill real values. I take him hunting, we work on cars together, he helps me with yard work without complaining. I want him to understand that being a man means providing, protecting, and taking responsibility without making excuses. How many of you guys are doing the same with your sons? Feels like society is pushing against this but I'm not backing down.
Man, that's awesome. Getting him out hunting and working on cars together builds real confidence. My kids are younger but I'm trying to do the same with hands-on stuff in the garage.
Love this approach. Teaching him work ethic through yard work and projects is way more valuable than just telling him about it. Sounds like he's learning by doing.
This is solid. My 8-year-old and I work on his dirt bike together and I see how much he soaks it up. The hands-on stuff is where the real lessons stick. Plus he gets to spend time with his old man instead of being glued to a screen.
Love that you're doing the hunting and cars thing with him. Those are the moments he'll remember forever. Keep showing him that being a man means showing up, doing the work, and treating people right.
Real talk though, make sure he also sees you being vulnerable sometimes. Asking for help, admitting when you messed up, being kind. My kids learned just as much from watching me handle tough stuff the right way as they did from me teaching them to fish.

This is gold. Between my three kids and work, I don't always get enough one-on-one time like you're doing. The fact that he's helping without complaining means you're already teaching him the right things.
