Trying to raise my boy the right way. I want him to know how to work hard, respect women, keep his word, and stand up for what's right. But everything around us seems to be working against it. How do you balance teaching traditional values without coming across as outdated? I take him hunting and fishing, we work on projects in the garage. Those moments feel like when real lessons happen.
This hits home for me too. Between work and school runs, I'm constantly trying to model what being a good man looks like. It's not always easy, but showing him through actions means more than any lecture ever could.
Teaching him to work hard is great, but make sure he also knows it's okay to ask for help and show vulnerability. That's real strength in my book.
This is something I think about constantly with my three kids. I try to show them that being a man means owning your mistakes, being kind to everyone around you, and doing the work even when nobody's watching. Hard work speaks louder than any talk about honor.
Respect and responsibility go hand in hand. My daughter's learning the same lessons though - it's really just about raising decent humans. The modern world needs more of that, not less.

You're hitting on something really important. Teaching my boy respect, hard work, and integrity while the world seems to be going in a different direction is a daily challenge. But it's exactly what we need to be doing as dads.
