Teaching my son to be a man in today's world

It's getting harder to instill the values my father taught me when society keeps telling young men that strength and responsibility are outdated. I'm trying to teach my boy to be respectful, hardworking, and to stand up for what's right even when nobody else will. A firm handshake, looking people in the eye, saying yes sir and no sir. Sometimes I wonder if I'm fighting a losing battle but I figure somebody has to keep these standards alive. Any other fathers out there trying to do the same?

I get it man. I carpool with a bunch of these kids and honestly they're hungry for real guidance. Society's confusing them but they still want strong fathers who actually give a crap. Keep doing what you're doing.

The world's different now for sure but a good man is still a good man. Show your son how to work hard, admit when you're wrong, take care of the people he loves. That stuff transcends any generation.

This is something I think about a lot. I try to focus on what doesn't change though - honesty, hard work, treating people with respect, standing up for what's right. Those values still matter. Maybe it's about keeping the good stuff your dad taught you and being thoughtful about what needs to evolve.

Can you be more specific about which values are getting pushback? Because I think there's a difference between old-school values that don't apply anymore and core stuff like integrity that never changes.
