Teaching my son to be a man of his word

Been thinking a lot lately about integrity and raising boys who actually mean what they say. My 14 year old made a commitment to help his buddy move, then got invited to something better and wanted to bail. I made him stick with his word even though he wasn't happy about it. His buddy's dad told me he respected that and appreciated the example. That's the kind of man I want my son to be. You can't build real friendships or reputation any other way.

Love this approach. I coach my kids through sports and the same lesson comes up constantly - your word is everything. Sounds like your son's already getting it.
