Teaching my son to be a man of his word

My dad always said your handshake and your word are all you've got. Been trying to instill that in my kids. When my 12 year old broke a promise to his friend last week I made him go apologize in person instead of just texting. He didn't like it but that's the point. How else are these kids going to learn honor and integrity if we don't make them live it?
