Took my boy to a networking event for work and noticed his handshake was weak. Looked unprepared and uncertain. We practiced that evening. Firm grip, eye contact, confident but not aggressive. He got it. Small thing but it speaks volumes about a man. Going to make sure all my kids know this before they head out into the world.
Weak handshake is a dead giveaway. I make it a point to practice with my boys before any situation like that. Firm grip, eye contact, smile. It opens doors in ways that people don't always talk about but definitely notice.
My volleyball players shake hands after every game and I see the difference between the kids who were taught that versus the ones who weren't. Confidence shows in handshakes.
That's great coaching. A good handshake opens doors, literally and figuratively. Teaching him confidence in those small moments sets him up for bigger ones later.

Good catch taking him to that event. Mine learned the same thing at a networking thing with me and he's been way more confident in those situations ever since. It's such a small thing but it matters.
