Teaching My Son to Shake a Man's Hand Properly
Had my boy's little league baseball game yesterday and he was nervous about meeting the opposing team's coach. I pulled him aside beforehand and showed him how to give a firm handshake, look a man in the eye, and say 'yes sir.' Coach noticed it right away and told me after the game that my kid had more manners than most kids these days. That's the kind of thing that sticks with you. These small gestures of respect and dignity matter. They set you apart.
Love this. I try to hit those moments with my three kids whenever I can catch them. A proper handshake might seem small but it sticks with them, especially after a game when they're already nervous.
