Teaching my son to shake hands like a man

Been noticing a lot of young guys nowadays with weak handshakes and no eye contact. Started coaching my 12-year-old on the fundamentals. Firm grip, look em in the eye, say their name back to them. He was embarrassed at first but I told him a handshake tells people who you are before you even open your mouth. My dad taught me this and his dad taught him. It's about respect and character. Anyone else still emphasize this with their kids?
