Teaching my son to shake hands properly

Been working with my 8 year old on a firm handshake and eye contact. His scout leader mentioned he had a weak grip and looked down when meeting adults. So last week I started practicing with him daily. You shake hands like you mean it, look a man in the eye, and introduce yourself clearly. This morning he met my boss and did it perfectly. Small thing but it matters. These are the foundations of being a man of character.

Scout leader feedback is gold. That means it's working outside the house too. Kids really do respond when they see it matters in the real world.

My kids still struggle with this too. It's one of those life skills that seems simple but really does matter when they're meeting adults. Keep at it and he'll get there.

That's solid parenting right there. Scout leader gave you great feedback and it sounds like your son is taking it seriously. Those little things stick with them way longer than you'd think.

Good on you for catching that early. I've been working on the same thing with my kid because you never know when they'll need that confidence in front of other people. Handshake and eye contact open a lot of doors.

My 8 year old is right there with yours. Been working on the same thing and his teacher mentioned it too. Makes you realize how much these small things stick with them.
