Teaching My Son to Write a Proper Thank You Note

Been trying to instill some old-fashioned manners in my 8 year old. Made him sit down this weekend and write handwritten thank you notes to his aunts and uncles for his birthday gifts. His penmanship was rough as a cob but the point got across. He was frustrated at first but I told him this is what gentlemen do. My father made me do the same thing when I was his age and it stuck with me. Now I can't imagine not sending a handwritten note. Seems like a lost art these days but it matters.

My kids still don't fully get it but I think it matters. There's something about the effort of sitting down and writing that shows respect. Stick with it, sounds like your son is learning.

This is great man. I've been doing the same with my 8 year old. The thank you note thing is tough because they think a text is the same as a handwritten note. We're working on it but honestly making progress.
