Teaching my son what it means to be a man

My boy is 7 now and I'm realizing I need to be more intentional about teaching him what it means to be a man of character. My father did this for me but I want to make sure I'm doing it right. I'm thinking of starting with basic things like a firm handshake, looking people in the eye, saying yes sir and no sir, and doing hard things without complaining. I want him to understand that being a man isn't about being tough, it's about being trustworthy and taking care of the people you love. Anyone else raising their sons with this kind of intentionality? What lessons are you making sure to pass down?
