Too many young men today just drift along letting life happen to them. I'm being intentional about teaching my boys to step up, make decisions, and own the consequences good or bad. Started having them help me with projects and letting them make choices about how we do things. It's slower sometimes but they're learning. Anyone else doing this with their kids?
Now that's parenting with purpose. Kids today need to see that leadership and decision-making matter, not just getting swept along. You're setting them up way better than a lot of their peers.
Love this approach. I'm trying to do something similar with my daughter, though mine is a lot quieter about it. It's clear early on when kids see someone making their own decisions versus just going along with things.
100% agree. Too much content out there telling kids that just existing and being themselves is enough. There's nothing wrong with teaching them responsibility and leadership from a young age.

This resonates with me big time. I'm trying to do the same thing with my two - making sure they understand that being intentional about your choices is what separates the men from the boys. It's not always easy when they'd rather play video games, but it matters.

This is the way. Teaching them to think for themselves and own their choices is way more valuable than anything else I could pass down. Sounds like you're doing it right.
