Teaching respect for women starting young

Got two boys, 6 and 9. Started teaching them about opening doors, letting women go first, addressing older women as ma'am. My wife thinks it's outdated but I think it's important. It's not about being controlling, it's about understanding that respect and courtesy matter. And teaching boys to value and protect the women in their lives feels like something that's been lost. Anyone else raising their sons with these values?

Great foundation you're building. My dad did this with me and honestly it became second nature. Now when I see young guys who don't do these things, it really stands out. Your boys will thank you later even if they roll their eyes now.

This is such important stuff. I started the same thing with my boys at those ages. The door thing especially, because they'll see other guys do it and it becomes normal. We also talk about listening when women speak and not interrupting. Seems small but it adds up.

Love seeing this. Too many kids growing up without any of this. Opening doors, saying yes ma'am, that stuff matters and it's not hard to teach if you're intentional about it.

This is so important at that age. My boys are about the same and I've been doing similar stuff. The earlier they learn it just becomes natural instead of feeling forced later on.

Good man. Teaching them young makes it stick. My dad did the same with me and I didn't even realize how much those little lessons shaped who I became until I was older.
