Teaching respect without being soft about it

Sometimes I wonder if I'm doing this right. My boy is 13 and I'm trying to teach him that respecting people - especially women, elders, people in positions of authority - isn't weak. It's actually the strongest thing a man can do. But I'm also not raising a pushover. There's a line between being a gentleman and letting people walk all over you. Been trying to model that balance of standing firm in your principles while treating everyone with dignity. Rough age to navigate this stuff.

The balance is real though. I try to teach my boys that respecting women and elders means seeing their humanity, not just following rules. It clicks better when they understand the why behind it.
