Teaching sons to open doors for others

Corrected my oldest yesterday when he didn't hold the door for his mother coming behind him. We went back and I had him do it right. He's 10 and old enough to understand that this isn't about being weak, it's about showing consideration. Honor and respect aren't outdated concepts, they're the foundation of a good man. Sometimes I feel like I'm swimming against the current teaching these things but I'm not backing down.

Good on you for taking the time to have him do it right instead of just moving on. That's exactly how these habits actually stick with them.
