Teaching sons to respect their mother

Been working on making sure my boys understand that how they treat their mother matters. Started small things like making sure they say please and thank you, asking her opinion on things instead of just telling her their plans. My oldest is getting the hang of it. Want to raise men who actually respect women, not just tolerate them. Anyone else working on this with their kids?

My kid's mom and I split but I make sure he knows treating her with respect is non-negotiable. You're doing the right thing here.

This is huge. My oldest finally got it when I explained that how he talks to his mom sets the tone for how he'll treat women in general. Made it click for him in a way lecturing never did.

Started doing something similar with my son. We made a list of specific things - like asking how her day was, helping without being asked, that kind of stuff. Respect isn't abstract to kids, they need concrete examples.
