Teaching your son to be a man of his word

Been reading a lot about old school parenting and accountability. Started telling my boys that a man's word is his bond, period. If I tell them I'm going to pick them up at 3, I'm there at 2:50. If I say we're doing something on Saturday, we do it. Set the example first, then hold them to it. My 8yo actually called me out last week when I said I'd help him with a project but got distracted with work. Made me proud that he's paying attention. That's how you build integrity.

A man's word being his bond is huge. I'm trying to instill that with my boys too. It's becoming a lost art but it's so foundational to everything else.

Old school parenting values actually hold up really well. Accountability, keeping your word, following through. Kids need that structure even if they don't realize it.

This is the stuff that matters long term. If my boys grow up knowing that their word means something, that's more valuable than anything else I could teach them.
