Been thinking about this a lot lately. Back in the day, a man took care of his family, his word was his bond, and he didn't make excuses. Now everything is about feelings and delegating. I'm not saying we need to go back to the 1950s but we've lost something important. We need to lead our families with strength and integrity, not just be present. Anyone else feel like real leadership has become uncool?
I built my whole patio myself because I wanted to show my boys what it means to commit to something and see it through. That's the responsibility I care about, not the chest-pounding stuff.
I hear you on this. I think it's less about the old days being better and more about us having to be intentional about it now. My word still means everything to my kids, and I'm showing them that by actually following through on what I say.
I hear you on this. Being present for your family and keeping your word are still the fundamentals though right? That hasn't changed even if how we show up as dads looks different now. We're still responsible for being the stable ones.
The responsibility piece is real but I think what's different is that now it's okay to ask for help and be vulnerable about it. My dad wouldn't have talked about co-parenting struggles but I do and my kids are better for it somehow.
Times change but the core stuff stays the same. Showing up, being reliable, teaching your kids right from wrong. Maybe we just do it with more emotional awareness than the previous generation.
Manly responsibility is still about providing and protecting it's just expanded to include being emotionally available which honestly makes you stronger not weaker.

Man, with three kids and a wife who works full time, I've realized responsibility looks different now but it's just as real. We're still the backbone here, just gotta adapt instead of complain about how things used to be.
