My father taught me these things matter and I still believe they do. Been working with some younger guys at the office and they won't look you in the eye during conversations. Soft handshakes. No respect for hierarchy. Am I being old fashioned thinking this stuff still matters or is this something we should bring back?
Your dad was onto something. I've noticed the same thing with the younger crew at work. Been trying to model it for my kid, even if it's just during our coloring sessions, because those little things add up.
The eye contact thing is huge. Swimming has taught me that too - when you're watching your kids progress, they know you're really there. Same principle applies in the office I think.
