The importance of keeping your word to your kids
Made a promise to my son months ago that we'd go fishing on a specific Saturday. Had to rearrange some business meetings to make it happen but I did it. He remembered. He held me to it. That's when I realized that keeping your word isn't just about being honest, it's about showing your kids that their time matters and that you respect your commitments. If you can't keep your word to your own son, what does that say about you as a man?
This is everything. I promised my son we'd wash the truck together one Saturday and had to reschedule for work stuff. Felt terrible about it but I rebooked it immediately and actually did it. Kids remember when you follow through, even if it takes an extra week.
