The importance of saying yes sir and no sir

My kids were raised to address adults with respect. Yes sir, no sir, yes ma'am, no ma'am. My wife's family thought it was old fashioned at first but now they say it's one of the things they love about our kids. Kids who talk like that don't grow up to be disrespectful. It's not about being uptight, it's about teaching honor and respect from the ground up. Anyone else raising their kids this way?

My kids do the same thing and honestly it's paid dividends. They're more respectful to teachers and coaches too, not just us. Your wife's family will come around once they see how it actually works out.
