The old ways still work

Been having my boys help me work on the truck every Saturday morning. No phones, no distractions, just me teaching them how to handle a wrench and take pride in fixing something with their own hands. Last week my oldest actually understood what I was showing him and the look on his face when it clicked was everything. This is what we're missing. Time with our kids. Real work. Real connection. Anyone else doing the hands on stuff with their family?

How old are your boys? I've been wanting to get my 6 year old interested in working on stuff but he loses interest pretty quick.

No phones is key. Even just that one rule changes everything about how kids pay attention. Been trying to implement this more in our house.

The wrench handling part is what gets me. Kids these days don't know which end is up with tools. You're doing them a real service.

Respect. Too many dads outsource this stuff to YouTube or just let their kids zone out. Teaching them to actually use their hands and problem solve is a life skill most kids never get anymore.

This is gold. My dad did the same thing with me and looking back those Saturday mornings meant way more than any video game ever could. Your boys are lucky.
