The value of a written thank you note

My son's baseball coach gave him extra attention and help all season. Instead of just saying thanks, I sat down and wrote the man a proper thank you letter. Told him specifically what his mentorship meant and dropped it off at his house. His wife texted my wife saying he kept it on his desk. Cost me 20 minutes and a stamp. These gestures seem old fashioned but they matter more now than ever because nobody does them anymore. This is the way.

Man, this is exactly the kind of thing I wish I'd done more of when my kids were in Little League. Those coaches put in serious work and a handwritten note really does mean something different than just a verbal thanks. Props to you for setting that example.
