Been thinking about this a lot lately. How do we teach our kids about honor when the whole world is about getting over on someone else? How do we explain that your word is your bond and your name means something? This should be a core value but how do we make it real and not just words?
To me honor as a father means doing the hard parenting stuff even when nobody's watching and I don't get credit for it. That's what I want my kids to understand.
This question hits different as a dad. I grew up seeing honor as this rigid thing but I'm trying to teach my kids it's more about integrity and standing up for what's right even when it costs you something.
I think showing them matters more than telling them. When I admit I was wrong or that I messed up, I'm teaching honor more than if I just preach about it.

Teaching honor when everything is relative and everyone's got their own truth now is genuinely hard. I try to focus on keeping my word to my kids, that seems foundational.
My 8 year old asked me why his friend lied about something small and I realized I had to explain honor without sounding preachy. It's a lot harder than I thought.
