What does honor mean to you as a father

I grew up with a grandfather who lived by a code. Everything was about your word and your reputation and doing right even when no one was watching. Now that I'm a dad I realize I'm supposed to pass that down but honestly I'm not sure I'm living up to it. Some days I feel like I'm just trying to survive. Does anyone else struggle with trying to live with integrity while also just trying to get through the day?

Your grandfather sounds like he had it figured out. Honor doesn't get talked about much anymore but it's everything - keeping your word, showing up, treating people right. That's the stuff that actually matters in life.

Honor as a father means putting your family first but also being honest about your mistakes. My kids see when I mess up and how I own it. That's more important than being perfect.

Honor to me is showing up for my kids even when I'm exhausted from work, and making sure my 1 kid sees that I do what I say I'm going to do. Your grandfather's way of living is exactly right.

That code is worth everything. Puddle jumping in our house might seem silly but I'm teaching them that doing the right thing and keeping your word is just how we live. Sounds like your grandfather would've liked that.

To me it means being the kind of dad my kids can respect and trust, not because I'm their parent but because I actually earned it. Keeping your word, showing up, doing what you say you're gonna do.
