What happened to just giving your word?

Had a handshake deal fall through with a guy I've known for years. Turns out he didn't bother putting it in writing so now he's acting like we never agreed to anything. Reminds me why my grandfather always said a man is only as good as his word. In this world of contracts and lawyers everything, seems like people forgot that honor means something. When I give my word on something, that's bond. Even if it costs me. That's the code I'm raising my boys to live by.

This is exactly why I started getting everything on email now, even with people I've known forever. Saves the friendship and the headache later.

Man, that's rough. I've learned the hard way that even with guys you trust, it's gotta be in writing. Doesn't mean you don't trust them, just means you're protecting both sides.
