What Happened to Just Keeping Your Word?

Can't believe I gotta say this but if you tell someone you're gonna do something, do it. That's it. That's the whole thing. My word is worth more than any contract. I told my kids I'd be at their game, I'm there. I told my buddy I'd help him move, I'm helping. I told my boss I'd have the project done Wednesday, it's done Wednesday. This shouldn't be controversial but somehow we live in a world where everyone's got an excuse. Be a man of your word. It's foundational.

Man, this hits different when you got kids watching. My two are always keeping score on whether I follow through, and it's made me a lot more careful about what I commit to. Your word being worth more than anything is exactly right.
