What Happened to Mentorship Between Men?
Real question, where did it go? When I was coming up, there were older men who took you under their wing. My grandfather, my coaches, my neighbors even. They showed you how to be a man by example and sometimes by straight up telling you hard truths.
Now every younger guy I meet seems lost. No one's teaching them how to work hard, how to handle failure, how to be responsible for their choices. We're all too busy on our phones. I'm trying to be that guy for my kids and the neighborhood boys but it feels like Im going against the grain.
I've started mentoring one of my buddies sons because his dad bounced. Kid needed to know that being strong and being kind aren't opposites. That honor matters. That you earn respect by being dependable. Wish more men would do this.
