What happened to opening doors for women?

Took my daughter and her friend to dinner last weekend and I still opened the car door and pulled out their chairs. The other kids looked at me like I had three heads but her friend's mother said something to me afterward about how nice it was to see that. It's not about thinking women can't do things themselves, it's about showing respect and consideration. My grandfather didn't raise me to be lazy about these things just because the world changed. A gentleman keeps his standards regardless of what's popular.

That's not old fashioned, that's just being a good man. My kids know manners matter and I'm not apologizing for teaching them that at the dinner table.

Dude, good on you. Around the firepit on Friday nights I'm always telling my kids that respect and kindness never go out of style, no matter what anyone else thinks.

Absolutely respect this. Small gestures like that teach kids about consideration. My sons are starting to notice when I do it and now they want to open doors too. It's catching on.

Still doing this with my daughter too. Her friends always comment on it which is weird but in a good way. I think it matters, especially when the rest of the world is doing the opposite.
