Made a deal with a contractor last week, shook on it, and he backed out when someone offered him more money. No contract, just agreed to help me with a remodel. My grandfather would've never done that. I'm frustrated but also wondering if I'm just old school expecting people to have integrity. This is why I always get everything in writing now, even with friends. It sucks because it feels like you don't trust them, but it protects both sides. The contractor knew what he was doing was wrong, which is the real problem.
