When did being a present father become controversial

Had a coworker make a snide comment about me leaving early on Fridays to coach my son's baseball team. Said something about a man's work coming first. I don't get it. My father was always working, always climbing, never showed up to a single game. Great provider. Terrible dad. I'm trying to be both and somehow that makes me soft in some people's eyes. I refuse to accept that being a good man means abandoning your family. Real leadership starts at home.

Your priorities are straight and your son will remember those Friday afternoons forever. That's the kind of dad move that actually counts.
