When did being a provider become optional?
Had a conversation with my boy's friend's dad last week. Guy was bragging about his wife making more money than him and how he's cool with it. Look, I'm not against a woman working. My wife worked before kids came along. But there's something about a man knowing that his family depends on him to provide that builds character. It's a responsibility that matters. Not saying every family has to work that way, but seems like a lot of guys have given up on that fundamental role. What happened to that?
Being a provider isn't about who makes the money though. It's about showing up and taking care of your family in whatever way works for your situation. That dad sounds bitter about something else.
