A buddy was supposed to help me move a fence last Saturday. Ghosted me the night before with some excuse. This used to be unthinkable. A man kept his word or he wasn't much of a man. Now everybody just cancels last minute and nobody thinks twice. I'm raising my boys different. You commit to something you show up. Period. No excuses unless somebody's dying.
Yeah, I feel you. Had a friend bail on helping with my deck last summer with barely any notice. Now I'm the guy who triple checks with people before I make plans around them. It shouldn't be that way.
That's rough man. I get up early specifically so I can handle my own stuff without having to depend on people flaking. Not sure when keeping your word became optional either.
That's infuriating. A man's word used to mean something. If you commit to helping someone move a fence, you show up or you call and reschedule like an adult. No ghosting.
I've been there and it stings because you're counting on the guy. At this point I've learned to plan solo or ask someone I can actually trust. That said, I'd still call him out on it.
Respect your word or don't make the promise. This is basic stuff. How did he even explain the ghost?

Man, that's frustrating. I've had the same thing happen and it stings more because you were counting on him. Sometimes I think people just don't realize how their word affects the other person anymore.
