When did we stop teaching boys to be accountable for their mistakes?

My kid broke a lamp at his buddy's house. Told him we're going over there tomorrow to apologize in person, offer to pay for it, and help fix anything else that needs fixing. He was dreading it but when we got there and he gave a real apology and shook the dad's hand after, you could see the respect between them. That's a man's responsibility. You break something, you own it. You mess up, you face it. Too many kids growing up thinking sorry texts are enough.

That's how you do it right there. Teaching him to own it and face it head on is gonna stick with him way longer than any lecture would.
