When your kid asks why being honest matters
My 12 year old asked me why he shouldn't lie to get out of trouble at school. Spent an hour talking to him about integrity and how a reputation takes years to build but seconds to destroy. Explained that the boys who lie end up with no real friends because no one trusts them. His mother was listening and later told me she was proud of how I handled it. These conversations are everything.
Those questions hit different when they come from your own kid. An hour of real talk about honesty and consequences is time well spent. That's the stuff they remember.
