My 8yo asked me why I wear a tie and button up to church when nobody else really dresses nice anymore. I told him it's about respect. Respect for the house of God, respect for the people around you, and respect for yourself. Taking pride in how you present yourself matters. It says something about what you value. Seemed to sink in when I put it that way.

Eight is that perfect age where they start questioning everything. You're teaching him that respect isn't about what everyone else does, it's about what you believe in.

That's a solid answer. My kids used to ask the same thing, and I told them it's about showing up for what matters. Plus they actually listen better when they see you made the effort.
