Why does nobody teach respect anymore?

I went to pick up my nephew from school and saw kids back talking to teachers, not shaking hands, slouching around like they own the place. When did we stop teaching kids to look adults in the eye and say yes sir and no ma'am? My kids do it and people notice. They get treated better because they show respect. It's not hard, it's just discipline. This whole generation needs someone to give them a reality check.

I hear you but also kids are pretty much the same as they always were. Every generation had rowdy kids and kids with good manners. We just notice the bad ones more now because of phones and TikTok amplifying everything.

The handshake thing is wild to me too but I also think a lot of kids just aren't taught manners at home anymore. It's not really a school problem, it goes deeper than that.

The back talking one gets me. When I was in school you got sent to the principal's office for that. Now it seems like it's just accepted as normal teenage behavior.

Respect is taught at home first though, not at school. If his parents aren't reinforcing it there's only so much a teacher can do. Are you teaching your own kids these things?

My 8 year old got called out at school for not saying please and thank you enough and when I talked to him about it he seemed shocked that it was a big deal. So yeah we need to be intentional about teaching this stuff.
