Why does the world want to raise boys without standards?
Long time lurker first time posting. Just watching my nephew get raised by his mom with basically no structure or discipline and it's painful to watch. Kid's nine and can barely follow instructions. I'm not saying be harsh but kids NEED boundaries. They need to know what's expected of them. This whole thing about letting kids express themselves without any guidance is setting them up to fail in life. End rant.
This is a tricky one. My take is that standards are still important but they need to make sense in today's world. Respect, honesty, hard work, taking care of yourself. Those still matter.
Your nephew's situation sucks but raising boys right takes input from both parents when possible. Maybe have a conversation with your sister about what values she wants to instill? Might help.
