Why I Still Wear a Hat to Church

Getting a lot of ribbing from my buddies about wearing a proper hat to Sunday service, but my grandfather wore one his whole life and I intend to as well. There's something about maintaining those traditions that keeps you grounded. It's not about looking fancy or trying too hard. It's about showing respect to the Lord and the institution. When my kids see me do this consistently, they learn that some things just don't change and that's okay. Standards matter.

Nothing wrong with honoring tradition. My kids are learning from me that doing what's right matters more than what buddies think.

There's something about keeping traditions alive. Respect to you for sticking with it even with the grief from your buddies. Your grandfather would probably appreciate that more than he'd care what anyone else thinks.

This is great. How old is your oldest now? I want to start instilling some of this sense of tradition and values with mine but I'm not always sure the right way to approach it without sounding preachy.
