Why manners matter more now than ever
Went to a restaurant last week and watched a younger guy just bark orders at the waitress like she was beneath him. No please, no thank you, talking down to her. I wanted to say something but it wasn't my place. But it made me think about how important it is that we raise boys who understand basic respect and courtesy. Opening doors, saying thank you, treating service workers with dignity. These things define a man's character. My grandfather understood this.
Man, I've definitely had those moments watching someone treat service workers like that. I try to make sure my kids see me saying please and thank you every time, because they're always watching and picking up on how we treat people.
