Anxiety about my daughter's school performance is eating me alive
My 7 year old brought home a progress report yesterday that says she needs to work on reading comprehension. Now I can't stop thinking about it. I've been researching learning disabilities at 2am, imagining worst case scenarios, and honestly I feel like I'm failing her as a parent. My wife keeps telling me to calm down and that the teacher said it's totally normal for her age but I can't shut my brain off. Anyone else struggle with this? How do you guys manage the anxiety when it comes to your kids?
Reading comprehension at 7 is still developing for a lot of kids. I know that doesn't stop the worry though. Have you considered tutoring or extra help just to get ahead of it? Sometimes knowing you're doing something proactive helps with the anxiety piece.
