Anxiety about my kids' future is destroying me

I can't stop thinking about everything that could go wrong. School shootings, climate change, economy crashing, them not being able to afford college. It's 3am and I'm lying awake doing the math on how much I need to save for their education. My wife says I'm catastrophizing but it feels so real. Anyone else deal with this? How do you shut your brain off?

It’s understandable with the world we live in nowadays. I don’t know that you can shut it off. I do believe given the right circumstances that you can require your brain through neuroplasticity though. I listen to Mel Robbin’s when it comes to this topic. She has a video where she basically says ,”when all you can think of is, “what if”, force yourself to say out loud “what if it all works out?” and make yourself repeat that multiple times whenever these thoughts arise. It’s certainly not a golden ticket BUT over time the brain can be trained like any muscle on the body and maybe this can calm some of that anxiety.
