Anyone dealing with loneliness as a stay at home dad?

Left my job to be the primary caregiver and while I'm grateful for the time with my kids it's been really isolating. My wife works long hours and all my friends still have their jobs so I don't see them much. Most of the parent groups around here seem to be moms and I feel awkward. Some days I don't talk to another adult until 6pm when my wife gets home. Just needed to vent that somewhere.

I feel this hard. Three under five here and some days the isolation hits different even with them around all day. Have you found any dad groups or meetups in your area? That's been my lifeline.

That's a tough spot you're in. Even though you're grateful for the time with the kids, you still need adult interaction and your own identity outside of being a parent. Don't feel guilty for needing that.

Stay at home dad life is real tough on the mental health side. Your wife probably doesn't fully get how isolating it can be when she's gone all day. Maybe sit down and talk about scheduling some time for you to get out, even just an hour or two.
