Anyone do support groups? Is it weird?

Been thinking about joining a dads support group. There's one that meets on Thursday nights in the basement of the library which sounds both very helpful and very depressing lol. Has anyone done one of these? Is it just a bunch of guys sitting around being sad or is there actually value? Nervous about the vulnerability part tbh but also kind of desperate for people who get it.
