Anyone else get weird anxiety about things being too good right now?
So life has actually been pretty decent lately. Kids are healthy, wife is happy, work is going well. But I keep getting this underlying dread like something bad is about to happen. Like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. Anyone else deal with this? It's like I don't know how to just enjoy the good times without catastrophizing. Been thinking about going back to therapy but wanted to see if this is normal.
That's totally normal anxiety. Your brain wants to prepare for the worst case scenario. The fact that you recognize it is good. Just remind yourself that things are actually okay right now and that's enough.
I felt that way after my first kid was born. Turns out my dad friends told me it's pretty common. Something about responsibility making you paranoid about losing it all. You're not alone in this.
